I've always been interested in eating healthy and am guilty of following the "trend of the day" diet - be it low-fat, low-carb, vegetarian, you name it - in order to be healthy and lose weight. So, when my family and I were diagnosed with gluten-sensitivity, I started looking closer at our relationship with food and how it impacts our health.
As the saying goes, “You are what you eat.” and eating the standard American diet ("SAD") can cause a myriad of health problems. On the other hand, eating a nutrient-dense whole-food diet can correct many issues and give you vitality.
The science based nutritional philosophy I adopted encompasses a holistic approach to nutritional counseling rooted in the conviction that REAL food, as nature intended, is medicine that heals, protects, nurtures, and supports good health. Our bodies restore balance when given the proper raw materials. Eating real food is both a system of healing and system of prevention that improves energy levels and enhances an overall feeling of wellness throughout the body.
Nutritional therapy focuses on the Foundations of basic health: Digestion, Blood Sugar, Mineral Balance, Fatty Acid Balance and Hydration. In order to obtain optimal health, each of these Foundations must be functioning properly.
I earned the following in my pursuit of all things nutritional:
Masters in Nutrition from the National College of Natural Medicine
Certified Nutrition Specialist
The Nutritional Therapy Association Certificate
Following my interest in healthy eating, I became healthier as I increased my knowledge and honed my skills. Now I get to help others create a path to a healthier and more vibrant life!
